From the Royal Necropolis to the fabrique de la flèche

From 17 October, the Fabrique de la flèche will be opening its doors to the public, enhancing the visitor experience at Saint-Denis Cathedral Basilica.

Located at the foot of the building, the Fabrique gives you unprecedented access to an exceptional worksite that can be visited: the reconstruction of the north tower and the spire of the basilica , for which the association Suivez la flèche is the project manager.

In this new itinerary, you'll start your visit in the royal necropolis, with its unique collection of 70 recumbent figures of the kings and queens of France, its Gothic architecture and a remarkable programme of stained glass windows, before moving on to the Fabrique de la flèche.

In this new immersive space, designed as a genuine heritage laboratory, you can discover the fascinating world of builders past and present: craftsmen's lodges, workshops, a permanent exhibition, 360° cinema, virtual reality and a children's area await you. When you enter the Spire Factory, you'll be plunged into the heart of one of Europe's largest heritage construction sites!

New areas to discover

As soon as you enter, you'll be taken to the craftsmen's dressing rooms, where stonecutters, blacksmiths and other journeymen share their skills in real time: you can see them at work, talk to them and discover the traditional tools they use.

Thepermanent exhibition " Une flèche pour Saint-Denis " (A Spire for Saint-Denis ) traces the history of the basilica, its spire and the major medieval construction projects through models, objects, interactive displays and documentary videos.

A virtual reality room allows you to slip into the shoes of a builder from the Middle Ages, while an immersive 360° cinema immerses you in a poetic and sensory reconstruction of the evolution of the spire.

Young visitors have not been forgotten: a special area for children aged 3 to 8 offers creative workshops and activities designed to give them a fun way to discover the building trades.

A medieval-inspired garden offers a haven of greenery in keeping with the monastic and architectural world of the basilica.

Finally, there is a shop and a restaurant open to the public.
